Theatre

In just 5 semesters of college, I've delved into every corner of theatre-making I could—stage-managing, directing, writing, acting—for several productions. I've also honed other technical skills as a props artisan, costume designer, and makeup artist. There isn't a creative challenge I'm not willing to try  to make a project thrive! Feel free to explore highlights of my work below.

Walk All Over (Nov '24)

Playwright, Director, Producer, Costume Designer
Denison University Theatre Department, Denison Independent Theatre Association

This is an original, experimental play examining the lasting effects of colonization in a postcolonial society, highlighting themes of inequitable education, economic disparities, and religious impositions.

I directed and synthesized the creative vision of this show through casting, rehearsals, and design. I led a team of 28 students–including cast, crew, designers, choreographers, a music director/composer, and a live band–with varying levels of theatre experience through a supportive, educational rehearsal process and two
sold-out, successful performances.

Moving Day (May '22)

Writer, Director, Producer, Performer

I self-published my second poetry book, Moving Day, in 2022. I also collaboratively planned and executed a launch event for the book, directing and performing in a spoken word and music showcase to immerse the audience in the book's emotional landscape. At the same time, I coordinated production aspects including event logistics, marketing promotions, guest invitations, and program development for 50+ guests. To publish the book, I managed the entire process including editing, book covers, digital and print publication, and distribution.

Invisible Threads: Teach THIS! (Sept. '23)

Director, Producer, Head of Script Development
Denison University Theatre Department, Denison Independent Theatre Association

This was an original collaborative production on censorship in education. It was performed at two sold-out shows on campus and at the Granville Center for the Arts during Banned Books Week. This project allowed me to apply leadership, creative collaboration, and project management skills to direct and produce a show with a community impact. Working with a team of 15,
I coordinated writing, directing, rehearsals, and marketing. We rehearsed virtually over the summer and performed the show in-person within the first three weeks of the semester.

Here US 2024 (Mar '24)

Stage Manager
Dir: Ojeya Cruz-Banks, Jim Dennen; Denison University Theatre Dept.

HERE US is an annual multimedia variety show created and performed by students of color on campus. As Stage Manager, I led a team of 20 crew members and 17 cast members, managing daily operations through scheduling, rehearsal reports, and communication between designers and cast. On performance nights, I called cues and coordinated with directors and front-of-house staff, ensuring a smooth and cohesive production. I also created a supportive environment for a cast of mostly non-theatre creatives.

She Kills Monsters (Nov '23)

Movement Co-Captain; Farrah the Faerie/Cheerleader/Bugbear/Gabbi/Evil Gabbi (Ensemble)
Dir: Aviva Neff; Denison University Theatre Dept.

She Kills Monsters is a comedic fantasy about Agnes, a high school teacher who discovers her late sister’s life and imagination through a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. As Movement Captain, I led fight calls and coordinated physical movement, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and safe with their props and choreography. The ensemble role also required efficiency backstage with multiple costume changes, and complex characterization work to make my five roles distinct.

My creative roots are in theatre, but my reach expands to engaging storytelling in digital media. See more of my work by clicking below.
